Welcoming Lower Clapton General Practice

Welcoming Lower Clapton General Practice to the Sage Practice Network

We’re delighted to welcome Lower Clapton General Practice as one of the first practices to join our Sage Practice Network since launching the website last week.

Lower Clapton have recently moved into a beautifully renovated heritage building in Hackney Marshes – a project that won the People’s Choice Award in the Hackney Design Awards. The new space has given them room to grow in many directions – from beginning a community garden to hosting creative and collaborative activities with patients.

Lower Clapton are developing a Dementia Café, to be run in partnership with a neighbouring secondary school. Once a month, patients living with dementia and their carers are invited to share stories, memories and music, while health and social care students host. We look forward to hearing the positive stories that come out of this intergenerational collaboration.

Creativity also flows into staff wellbeing, with recent events including pottery classes and blending Hackney-grown herbs into their own tea bags. In collaboration with Together Better, they’re co-creating activities such as a coffee morning and crochet group that invite patients into community.

For Jeni King and the team, joining the Sage Practice Network is about recognition and support:

“Health is about individual wellbeing, community and connection. It's easy to get overwhelmed by daily assessments and medications and monitoring. Being a part of a wider community of practices though the Sage Practice Network  will enable us be inspired,  to develop and grow the creative practices which we know foster resilient and flourishing communities.”

We’re inspired by their pioneering spirit and hopeful story. You can find out more about Lower Clapton here https://www.lowerclapton.nhs.uk/.

Please share your own ‘sage’ ways: the small, practical steps that help reclaim care and reimagine health. Each contribution adds to a growing field of hope and possibility.
